Wyre Council Celebrates Six Rising Stars with Performance Pass Awards

2nd of December, 2025

Wyre Council is delighted to announce that six outstanding young athletes have been selected to receive the Wyre Moving More Performance Pass, in partnership with YMCA Fylde Coast.

This initiative provides free access to Wyre’s leisure facilities for 12 months, enabling these promising sportspeople to train at any of the Wyre Leisure Centres. The pass covers swimming, gym sessions, and exercise classes, giving each athlete the best opportunity to fulfil their potential and progress in their sporting careers.

The Performance Pass was open to athletes competing at elite or regional standard, or those identified by their National Governing Body as having the potential to reach this level within a year of application.

The selected athletes have already achieved remarkable success in their respective fields:

•             Swimming – Ryan, ranked 3rd in Britain in the 100m breaststroke at the British Summer Championships

•             Karate – Harrison, the highest world-ranked English Cadet for Kata

•             Badminton – Jack who won Gold medal in U17 mixed doubles

•             Taekwondo – Charlotte gained Gold in Milan for individual and team Poomsae and Ella won gold in both patterns and sparring at the British International Open in April 25

•             Football – Kara plays for Manchester City Academy and has recently been awarded a football scholarship

Councillor Lynne Bowen, Leisure, Health and Community Engagement Portfolio Holder at Wyre Council says -
