Faith Security Training

The Home Office is launching FST – a free scheme designed to help faith communities across England strengthen their security awareness and preparedness. Delivered by CDS Support, this training provides practical guidance to keep places of worship safe and resilient.

Virtual or face-to-face sessions will be offered.

Celebrate an Outstanding Young Person with the Sheraton Trophy

Do you know a person aged 18 or under who inspires others? Nominate them for the Sheraton Trophy to give them the praise and recognition they deserve.

Nominating is easy – email mayor@wyre.gov.uk with the young person’s full name, age, contact details and a short explanation of why they inspire you.

FUNDING CONSULTATION

New Morecambe Bay Offshore Windfarm Community Benefit Fund

Deadline: 22nd May 2026 (consultation closes). The fund will not go live until 2030!

Who for: Thornton-Cleveleys & Poulton-le-Fylde (also Blackpool, most of Fylde, and small parts of Preston and South Ribble)

What for: Community projects

How much for: When the wind farm is in operation, £200,000 is expected to be made available annually.

What for: Gardening, fine art and history projects

How much for: Usually grants of £5,000

Deadline: Expected to open this month/March

Who for: Community groups near a One Stop – Preesall, Garstang, Thornton-Cleveleys, Fleetwood

What for: Tackling food poverty, reducing inequality, supporting vulnerable people including the elderly, sports teams, improving the local environment

How much for: £1,000

Who for: Community-based organisations

What for: Projects that are sustainable (not one-off events or salaries)
