Mayor’s events
The first few weeks of my Mayoral year have seen me attending Garstang, Catterall, Churchtown and St. Michaels galas with my junior consort Elijah. These events have long been an integral part of the social life of our town and local communities, and they only happen by the time and effort put in by loyal volunteers. I urge anyone who has enjoyed these events as much as I have to consider coming forward to join in the organising so that they continue well into the future. I am sure you will be welcomed with open arms.
I have been invited by various organisations to support markets, coffee mornings, afternoon teas and theatrical productions and I thank you all for your hospitality. I have enjoyed them all.
On a more sombre note, we had our annual flag raising ceremony to remember our Armed Forces past and present. It was a ceremony well attended by our veterans and our school children. My consort Elijah read a poem before he raised the flag, and I was very proud to have him by my side.

Grant applications to the Council
The Council is committed to supporting and strengthening the many networks and community groups that help to make a positive difference to Garstang. We know that the Council can make a difference through our grants process, but it is also important that we seek a relationship with many of these groups to explore other ways in which they can develop and grow as they need to.

The Grant allocation process is now open. This year’s budget allocation is £2,700. The deadline for applications is the 31st August of each year. Full Council will consider the applications that meet the criteria at September’s Council meeting (21/09/2026).

Represent the views of local residents
Contribute to making Garstang a better place to live, work, and visit
The Town Council represents the needs and concerns of all age groups within the community and meets on the third Monday of each month at 7:30pm.
